It was amusing to read my rant last Saturday in the morning just after it got released, click on the link to Seditious Industrial Complex and
immediately read a frightful retaliation against my pre-emptive review that had already been cooked up by then. Needless to say, I could not let this go past
me, so in their forum I posted some new inflammatory material, which then proceeded to escalate into a full-scale webcomic nuclear war.
As with
all nuclear wars, however, it was over in a flash and now the dust has settled. We've agreed upon a mutually beneficial truce and svelte veil of camaraderie.
Peace for our time, and August lives to see yet another day.
In the last week I've been listening to the awesome new CD of Electric Six; Se?or Smoke.
Well, it's a few months old but that still qualifies as new for me. It's full of pumping disco-sounds again, filled with synthesizers and the metallic voice
of Dick Valentine speaking of dancing and well-suited political sneers. It's too early in my listening to tell yet if there are tracks on there that equal
the fantastic peaks of Fire. Dance Commander, Naked Pictures and the other singles were all of such extraordinary quality. There certainly is immediate
appeal in some of the tracks on the new CD, but it's yet to see whether that remains or not. Suffice it to say that at the moment I'm rocking again on one of
those bands I have little problem calling one of my favourites.
Last thingy: the website is being constructed and well underway. It'll still be a few
weeks to a month before the launch, but it's definitely in sight. The pages and texts have been written and good stuff is being prepared. The idea is to have
somewhat of a public launch to create a second wave of momentum for Captain August. The fanbase is still quite small and underdog, so the plan is to attract
more people. I'm sure there are still millions of human beings out there that have it in them to become fans-forever if they only got exposed.
Once
the time comes, my friends, I will call you out to spread the word anew. Be prepared to let others bask in the glorious light as kinsmen and brothers. Be
prepared.
Roderick.
